Prima Love

Today on the Prima blog my work is being featured........thought I would share the post here too plus a couple extra closeups:)

Hello everyone, it's been such a long time since I had my last post here (on the Prima blog), so I am totally thrilled to share with you some of my Prima creations.  The first 3 creations were created for CHAS and haven't been shared here yet and my last creation is a new layout with a short step x step process for you to try.  So lets get to it.
First up is a layout featuring the Rondelle collection.  I rarely create on a dark background but this piece of paper really helped me create something a little more "boyish" out of this line.  I loved the diamond shape paper which I cut up, distressed and added them to my page with foam tape for dimension.

"So Happy You are My Son"

The flowers this release would have to be some of my favourites ever, the colours, the roses!! I tell you, I was in Prima flower heaven creating for CHA this year.

Lastly I have a recent layout to share with you plus a short tutorial on how I created the background.  I used a mixture of the new line "Zephyr" and a little bit of Almanac to neutralise the background.  I really love the brights of the Zephyr collection but I only took the blues and yellows from the collection to match in with my picture.

"Adore"

First step, using a Donna Downey mask, I applied gesso to it in 2 sections on my background piece of paper.  One in the bottom right hand corner and the other halfway up the page on the left hand side bearing in mind that some of the mask effect would be covered.

Next up I applied some mists to the centre of the page and also allowed the mist to run down the page.

I tore a section of the page a short way up on the left hand side with my fingers and curled the edges over.  I cut out a square shaped piece of paper and placed it under the torn section.

This is were I begin my layering.  I tore paper and distressed the edges allowing all of the sides to curl up.  I also tore a piece of calico letting the threads hang off the edges.  I then applied a journal note and lastly added a long piece of string made into a lasso for my picture to sit on.  At this point you can see the texture this as already made to the creation.

I distressed the whole way around the layout and placed another piece of paper under it.  This also helps with a weighty layout and keeping it firm and flat.  I tore small pieces of cardboard and placed them in various areas of my layout.  These were then whitewashed with Gesso.

I then proceeded to add my photo along with all of the extra embellishments, flowers, buttons and  trinkets.

I'm back...........

After a couple of busy weeks I am back with some shares.  The first layout I want to share is for the Prima Product Pick for August.  Pop over to the blog to find so much inpspiration and more!

We all know my love for the beach and a beach themed layout.....well this one is no exception.  I often wonder if my beachy layouts are all starting to look the same?????  But then you throw a palette in like this and I am sure I have never done one like this before:)  I used the Rondelle collection here along with lots of different techniques, misting, masking, layering!!!  I am completely in love with all of the flowers Prima has released this CHA.  Roses, roses and more roses in every colour under the sun!!!

"Thankful"

I used a new Donna Downey mask for the dotted effect at the bottom.  The Shimmerz colours here are just stunning, you can't actually see the shine in this layout but in real life it's definately Shimmery.

Another of Ingvild's new resins......absolutely gorgeous!

I still love a little bird cage:)

Lots of layering and whitewashing and misting and then more whitewashing.

My second layout to share today is of my little man.  I actually did this a few weeks back now, just after his first haircut, and I forgot to share it:)  I used a mixture of everything here and especially loved the Basic Grey background paper!  Lots of washi tape and Shimmerz!

Some Prima genie stones, I love the effect the Shimmerz has on them:)

I layered the cute kites and also added a touch of Gesso to the clouds.

Layered Washi tape, super fun and easy!

Lastly I have a cute card to share full of Shimmerz!
This was so quick to make, Shimmerz covered background along with sequins and the balloons were cut and layered with foam tape and the twine added.

Check this out!!!!!  The lovely, talented Janna Werner requested a little interview from me for her blog.......you even get to see a sneak at my scraproom:)  Thankyou Janna........

Okay, I hope you find some inspiration from my post today.  I am 10 followers off hosting my next giveaway:):)  So stay tuned!
Thankyou for stopping by, hugs xo

Pink Paislee and Pagemaps + easy editing

Hi there!!
This month the Pink Paislee DT contributed to the Page Maps sketches!
Here is the sketch I was given:)

And my take on the sketch:

I used the Spring Jubilee Collection.  My gosh I love this collection, it is definately my favourite!  I found this super cute pic of Gracie and went crazy with the pink!!!  I really loved this sketch and kept the design exactly to the sketch.  Except for the top photos I opted for a banner instead:)

Product list:

00611 Chipboard Stickers
00608 6 x 6 Petite Paper Pack
00609 Clear Stamps
00604 Spring Jubilee "Soiree"
00601 Spring Jubilee "Party"
00401 Artisan Elements Circles

I thought I would share something else with you today.....my photo editing how to!  Here is my before photo.  I lightened the photo first in photoshop by going into Enhance - Adjust Lighting and then fiddle with the brightness and contrast.  Ask me much more about Photoshop and I wouldn't have a clue........lol!!!!

For the next step I use the program Picmonkey .  So simple to use and you don't have to download the program to the computer and it's Free!!!  I play with the basic edits first.  Adjust the exposure again slightly and then up the temperature to about 10 to 13.  I will sharpen the picture slightly aswell.  Next I will have a little play on the effects.  My favourites would be Tranquil, Intrepid and Cross Process bearing in mind with these actions I fade it out at the 60% to 80% mark so it's more subtle:)  It's really just about playing around and finding which effects best suit your photos!

See photo editing can be quite simple!!  I am sure there are these options in photoshop, but I haven't worked them out yet!

Thanks so much for stopping by today:)

A new canvas piece!

Hi everyone!  Here is a new canvas piece I created using Shimmerz.

The background being a mixture of these products:

Coloringz in Pink Stiletto and Heidi Ho Blue
Spritz in Sapphire and Rockafella Blue
Vibez in Hermit the Frog
Shimmerz in Ultra Marine, Tickle Me Turquoise, Antique Lace and Frosty's Got The Blues

I raised a Scrapmatts chipboard window frame from the background.  I tucked in lots of Prima gorgeousness too!

I applied Shimmerz in Ultra Marine under the frame and in the corners to give it more dimension.  By using this darker shade against the turquoise it really gives a shadow effect.  I also applied Shimmerz to the resin bird and deer to blend the whole creation together.

Lots of texture paste was used and then all of the flowers, leaves and frame where highlighted with Shimmerz in Frosty's got the Blues:)  You don't need to apply too much, just a light brush around the edges with your paint brush!

Shimmerz has a new campaign coming September.  Keep a look out here for more information!!!!!

Lots of exciting, new things happening in Shimmerz in the future including new formulation and cheaper prices!!!!!!!!!

Until next time,
 xo
